Hi Friends, I’m Em Cruickshank.

I’ve spent over a decade teaching Yin Yoga — not as a style, but as a way to meet yourself.
More than a thousand students and four hundred private clients later, I’ve learned that what people most need isn’t more information — it’s honest attention.

Before all this, I spent years in the corporate world — fast-paced, high-performing, and disconnected from my own body. That time taught me a lot about burnout, boundaries, and the cost of living from the neck up. It also taught me the language of those who live in that world — how to translate ancient wisdom into something that makes sense in modern life.

I also teach teachers how to teach — guiding them to hold space with depth, humility, and an embodied understanding of energy. My trainings aren’t about performance; they’re about presence. Learning to listen, to translate what’s felt into what’s taught, and to honour the body as the entry point to truth.

My work sits where ancient wisdom and modern reality meet.
It’s rooted in Buddhism, Taoism, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, but spoken in plain language you can actually live by. I teach the energetics of the body — fascia, meridians, and the five elements — alongside practices that bring the mind home: breathwork, meditation, and inquiry.

I don’t do bypass or platitudes.
What I offer is a grounded path back to truth — through your body, your breath, and your lived experience. I’ll meet you there with clarity, curiosity, and compassion, but you’ll do the walking.

We work together so you can learn how to see clearly, feel deeply, and stand firmly in your own sovereignty — hands on the wheel, energy directed toward a life that feels true.

Testimonials

  • I have been working with Em for years now, first as my Yin yoga instructor, then on Yoga Retreats and also with private sessions. Em has helped me learn about myself in ways I have been unable to achieve with other practitioners. I can see the progress I’m making, and frankly, am astonished at how clearly the progress shows. Her sessions help me tap into my truth and my purpose and have helped me live my life in a more emotionally stable and inspirational way. If you are looking for someone to work with you, really see you and offer both coaching and guidance, I can’t recommend her highly enough. In person or online, both work exceptionally well.

  • Words will never be enough for me to explain what Em has been- and is- for me, or my level of gratitude for her. In October 2024 I attended a 3 day silent retreat run by Em. I had prescribed myself antidepressants (I am a doctor) to start on the Monday as I was depressed and at the end of my tether after years of pretty shitty life events and nothing working. I never had to fill the script. To this day I still cannot explain it. The closest I can get to, is Em helped me to find myself again and showed me that was was going on around me didn’t have to define me. I continued to work with her in one on ones after and it has been nothing short of transformational (hate that word, sorry, but it’s true). If I could sum up what I have gained in one word it would be resilience- and I never thought I’d describe myself that way. In the face of another challenging year externally, I am my happiest, calmest and most resilient self. I have Em to thank for that. Em continues to mentor me and guide me to ways of thinking and being that only continue to enrich my existence. Thank you doesn’t cut it.

  • It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.
